ORM held a business breakfast on the topic: “The role of the business sector in the just transition: regulatory changes, obligations and new opportunities”

The Employers’ Organization of Macedonia (ORM), with the support of the International Labour Organization, within the framework of the project “Advancing social dialogue on issues related to just transition”, organized a business breakfast with the aim of informing and involving companies in the ongoing processes related to climate policies.

At the event, ORM members were introduced to the key regulatory changes in the field of climate policies – Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), the new Climate Action Law, CBAM, as well as the expected obligations for greenhouse gas emissions. The potential business benefits were also presented: green jobs, access to green finance, increased competitiveness on the EU market and the development of low-carbon innovations.

The objectives of the event were:

  • Raising awareness of the new climate regulations and their impact on business;
  • Presenting the findings of the Enhanced NDC Assessment and the Just Transition Business Case Analysis;
  • Opening a dialogue with enterprises on the challenges and support needed;
  • Encouraging initiatives for a just and competitive transition.

During the event, a fruitful discussion was opened on institutional readiness, enterprises’ opportunities for timely preparation, as well as access to finance that will enable them to comply with the new policies more easily and efficiently.
