A small number of companies require the Goverment to subsidize the minimum wage. By October 19, financial support was requested by 1,430 employers for only 8,955 employees. Estimates of the adoption of the law were that the salary of less than 12,000 denars was taken by about 130,000 workers. This means that only seven percent of these people have so far been asked for support, which, depending on the salary of the employee, ranges from 500 to 2,000 denars.

“The rest can be decided that they will pay the minimum wage without a subsidy or they will now make an address to the Public Revenue Office in the last period. We’ll see what happens to the October 30’s and that’s what we get as a figure. They will all receive a subsidy. Others will not be able to pay a salary below 12,000 denars because they have to show the net salary in the M – PIN form, “said Mila Carovska, Minister of Labor and Social Policy

Carovska stressed that the State Labor Inspectorate performs constant controls with the employers. He said that there would be warnings at the beginning, but from Thursday will be followed rigorous penalties for violating the Minimum Wage Law.

“However, workers are those who must not allow abuse of this Law. Receiving wage-earnings or repaying money with the employer is strictly punishable by law, not only misdemeanor but also criminal, “says Carovska

Finance Minister Dragan Tevdovski is convinced that the rise in the minimum wage will cause an increase in other wages. In an interview with “Economic magazine” that is being broadcast tonight, he announced that he will analyze whether there is a possibility for higher wages in the public sector.

“Increasing the minimum wage in the short term will not lead to an increase in other levels, but it will certainly push for wages to grow. Making the pressure to grow the remaining wages is good because it will make pressure and companies find ways to increase productivity, “said Dragan Tevdovski, Minister of Finance

State support for employers who have raised the minimum wage is one and a half million euros per month, but after six months this amount will be halved.
