Representaives from the Organization of Employers of Macedonia and representatives of the ministries of labor, social policy, social relations of Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, experts from Ireland, Romania, Germany and Bulgaria take part in the two-day conference – effective mechanisms for the peaceful settlement of labor disputes within the project “Promoting social dialogue” of the International labor organization (ILO) held in Ohrid.
The Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Frosina Tashevska – Remenski emphasized that the experts of the International Labor Organization will present recommendations that all of the countries participating in the meeting, including the Republic of Macedonia are obliged to implement them in the next period in relation to the project as well as to improve the legislation for improving the mechanism.
The conference was initiated more issues of workers ‘rights, is it possible to talk about them when practice shows that in some cases do not respect any basic workers’ rights guaranteed by labor law, and if the trade union organization is strong sufficiently to be an active participant in the regulation of social dijalog.This conference is a good opportunity for participants to present their good practices in the establishment, organization and functioning of the mechanism for the peaceful settlement of labor disputes.
Antonio Graziosi ILO Director for Central and Eastern Europe, noted that the issue of protection of workers’ rights is a complex issue whose arrangement is problematic not only for the region, also stressed that it is one of the mechanisms for resolving all outstanding issues which enables faster procedure dispute resolution and of course shorten the duration of the process.
Through the project “Promoting social dialogue,” the ILO in Macedonia for one year the mechanics for the peaceful settlement of labor disputes, with 41 licensed person as arbitrator in the process. Within the actions so far examined four cases, two of which have a positive outcome, one negative and one is under procesing.According the Minister Tashevska -Remenski this fact is in terms of the recognition the mechanism by the parties to the dispute, and the need to further promote the mechanism, as a good practice to reduce the cost of litigation
